Enact:Lab is a group of like-spirited people who all want to make the world a place where we can all live and thrive no matter who we are.
We are a motley crew of researchers, consultants, artists, and activists, but we all share the same sense of urgency. We want structural changes and we want to act now.
Enact: Lab is comprised of two interconnected approaches to drive structural change:
Enact: A Consultancy, helping companies, organizations and organizations and large partnerships to solve some of the pressing structural challenges and complex problems that they face.
Lab: A lab that works closely with leading universities and institutions globally to combine in-depth research around structural problems with practical translation and implementation of research into structural changes.
Enact:Lab is founded on the idea of creating change with and for people. Hence, we are not a traditional consultancy or lab.
MEET the team
In Enact, we are specialists in creating structural change. By “structural” we mean changes that deal with the underlying structural problems, are sustainable and continue to live on even when the bright lights are turned off and all the attention is gone. Because the sad reality is that up to 70% of all change initiatives do not deliver on the intended change. On the contrary, it often adds more frustrations, because of over-promising and under-delivering. To really change, we need to deal with the underlying structures and structural problems.
Our Enact Method is the key to unlocking real, structural change in companies, organizations, systems, and society. We leverage resources, tools and research methods from cognitive sciences to build human-centered processes that drive structural change.
We work with companies, organizations and large partnerships to create the agency and build capabilities within several areas, i.e.: Change Strategy and Policies, , Co-Creation processes – top-down/bottom-up (e.g. user- and stakeholder participation), Learning Design & Evaluation, Interdisciplinary partnership facilitation & governance.
In our Lab we conduct research projects that leads to new knowledge on creating real, structural change. But even more importantly, our Lab is where we turn knowledge and research into appliable and practical tools and actions to drive structural change.
We combine state of the art scientific research with in-depth knowledge of organizations and cultures, and the lived experiences of individuals and communities. We are specialists in creating agency, community building, social dynamics, and cultivating cultures of inclusion and social sustainability.
We believe in Open Science, knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary processes that cut across professional silos. We therefore build our work around the principles of open innovation – where we work in collaboration with our target groups, clients, stakeholders, etc. to explore and co-create actions and solutions that will make real, structural change.

Organisations, foundations, companies and institutions are daily struggling with problems such as:
- Cultures and communities lacking diversity, equity, inclusion, and access
- Issues of mental and physical wellbeing and health
- Unsustainable climate and environmental actions
- Unsustainable economic, investment and commercial models
These problems are extremely complex, and defy simple solutions. In Enact:Lab we work to solve such problems.
Changing structures →
To deal with structural problems it’s necessary to re-imagine how we solve problems by changing our underlying structures. This means to change structures at different levels
- Individual: Behaviour, mindsets, self-understanding and habits
- Relational: Social dynamics and ways of interacting
- Communal: Ways of grouping and belonging together
- Discursive: Categorisations, conversations, narratives ,and stories
- Organisational: Strategies, practices, governance, and leadership
- Systemic: Regulatory and economic models, policies, and infra-structures
- Cultural: Societal values, norms, and customs

The Enact Model is a scientifically validated model that makes it possible to deal with structural problems by changing structures at different levels. The model originates from the philosophy of Enactivism and re-imagines how to understand and work with people and change.
The model takes its point of departure in lived experience and changes structures applying the 4xE:
Enacting: Drive change through individual and collective agency and actions
- Embodying: Engage change through emotional and inter-affective experiences
- Embedding: Anchor change in concrete contexts, situations, and organisations
- Extending: Sustain change through tools, strategies, policies, models, methods, etc.
Structural problems all have one thing in common. They are easy to identify, but difficult to solve. The causes of structural problems are complex, being behavioral, relational, systemic, societal, and historical. That is obviously why we have such a tough time solving structural problems and creating real change, even though there’ ́is a common understanding of why these changes are important.
In most cases the actions initiated to create change and to solve the structural problem don´t have the intended impact, and in the worst cases, the actions actually recreate or strengthen the problems.
To create real change and to solve these structural problems a new approach is needed that is deeply rooted in building agency, centering on lived experience, communities, and cultivating inclusive social dynamics. Our approach is open-ended and exploratory in nature and is guided by a bottom-up approach.
