The initial foundation of Enactlab was established when Jacob Nossell and Kristian Martiny in 2012 started working together on the documentary film Natural Disorder and the theater play Humane Liquidation. A collaboration that combined science, art and journalism with the aim of changing the mindsets, narratives and community for people living with (physical) disability. A partnership became friendship and in the following years they worked together on a number of different projects.
In 2016 David Eskelund Nielsen entered the picture, and with his expertise in psychology and his sense of practical implementation, the lab slowly became a real possibility.
Organisationally, Enactlab is a not-for-profit knowledge institution based in Copenhagen, Denmark, founded by Kristian Moltke Martiny, David Eskelund and Jacob Nossell in 2018.
The lab has an academic affiliation with The Center for Subjectivity Research (CFS), Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, University of Copenhagen, and is part of the Faculty of Humanities’ external relations strategy.
